WE MADE IT! Our last FULL week of school! Yay! We have a busy, busy week ahead…here is a look!

Monday- For the most part a regular day, but we will have a short entrance walk through for the feast in the afternoon.

Tuesday- No official classes. We will be in homerooms discussing Olympiad in the morning before we go to our Holocaust speaker, then we will start the preparations for the FEAST! :)

Wednesday- In the morning we will dine on our left over feast food and watch “The Princess Bride.” Our afternoon will bring shortened classes.

Thursday- In the morning we will have our “Olympiad” and in the afternoon we will have our Catapult Finals, Jousting Competition and probably a fierce game of kickball! :)

Friday- Whoo hoo….our trip to Schaumburg, Illinois to Medieval Times! Be at school at 7:15am and remember parents will pick you up at St. Malachy!

I’m looking forward to an awesome week!

Hey All Stars! Keep up the good work! Can you believe Tuesday is already May 1st? Less than 20 days left of 6th grade! Let’s work hard and make them the best both in our academics and respect for others!

Monday we have an all school assembly called MWAH! It is sure to be a good time!

This week in math we will be working with Percent in Enriched and after a quiz on ratios and proportions in Regular, we will begin percents also.  All classes will take the Discovery Education online assessment on Thursday.

Just 12 Days to the feast! :) Huzzah!!

We have lots of things happening this week…..Tuesday is a Connections Day and Friday night is Builder’s Club/Kiwanis Mini Golf Night. Mark that on your family calendar so everyone can come enjoy the fun! We will also be selecting our Medieval Feast Head Table Nobles from each Homeroom. :)

Here is what is happening in Math this week….

Regular Math- We will begin Scale Drawings with a lesson and then work on creating our own all week, so be sure you have your comic strip selected and ready for Monday.

Enriched Math- We will have a test on Chapter 5 Ratios and Proportions Wednesday and then begin Percents.

We still have lots of math to learn….we have to make each day count! :)

Regular Math- We will continue our work with (those super hard, mentally tough and ultra sweaty) proportions! We will also move into using proportions with indirect measurement and begin a scale drawing activity.

Enriched Math- We will kick off the week with our scale drawing activity and then go back in Chapter 5 to hit a lesson on customary measurements and tackle slope if we have time! Whoo hoo!

Week of April 10th

   Posted by: jschauland   in Welcome

I hope you all have a great break!  It’s hard to believe that we have just 31 and a half days left of school until summer vacation!  I know the weather has already been really pleasant, but it is important to be sure you are getting all of your homework turned in on time and to the best of your ability!  We all have to be in school from 8:10am to 3:15pm, so if you have Study Hall especially do your work while you are at school so you can enjoy your time when you leave the building!  I know lots of spring sports are revving up, so it is really important to use good time management skills to complete your work. The unfortunate consequence if you don’t is missing out on the 4th quarter Reward Party which is Olympic Day! No one wants to miss a day as fun as that! Trust me! :)

Here is what we have on tap as we enter April….

Regular Math classes will be starting Ratios, Rates and Proportions.  Enriched classes will move from Proportions to Percents. We will also be looking at scale drawings and everyone will need a comic strip brought to class within the next 2 weeks, so if you have a Sunday paper you may want to pull out the comics and save it for math class.

It sure is a pleasure to be your teacher! I can’t wait to see you after break and hear all about the fun you have had! :)

Enjoy!

Week of March 26th

We are just going to keep on, keepin’ on in math this week.  Ratios, rates and slope of change in Enriched and dividing fractions and fraction equations in Regular Math. That will get us through the week and keep our focus until Spring Break! :)

Fun Fact: Did you know that there are only 7 “Monday’s” left of school! Holy cow!! :)

Don’t forget that this week the Wounded Warriors will be at school for an assembly on Tuesday. You will not have 4th period that day, but all classes will be at the regular times.  Friday is a Connections day and whoot whoot……just 5 days until Break!

Whoo hoo! This week we will dip under 40 days left until summer vacation! WOW! I can hardly believe it has gone by so quickly! Thanks again to everyone who made Pi Day 2012 a success. I had a BLAST! It was so fun and I LOVE your t-shirts!  You are all so creative!  Here is what is happening this week in math as we get back into the swing of things….

Regular Math- We will spend a short time reviewing adding, subtracting and multiplying fractions and mixed numbers with calculators. :) Then we will move into division of fractions and mixed numbers.

Enriched Math- We will also spend a little time reviewing fractions and then jump to Chapter 5 and begin studying ratios and rates.

Just 10 days until Spring Break!
