This week we will continue our novel study of “The Giver.” We will be spending a few days in the lab working on our Giver projects. Towards the end of the week, Mrs. Feely will be coming to our classes for a day.

This week we will continue our novel study of “The Giver.” In addition, we will take some time to study The Black Hawk Indians and how their environmental conservatism compares to us. At the end of the week we will be going to Black Hawk State Park

This week we will continue our Memoir unit. We will play grammar poker to review the grammar concepts from the unit. Then we will work on revising our memoirs with “revision tips,” “word upgrades,” and peer reveiws. Finally, we will take our semester assessment and then begin our novel study of “The Giver.”

This week we will continue our Memoir unit. We will finish our story boards and write our rough drafts. We will also study commas in dialogue, verbals, and voice (active and passive) and use these skills in our memoir drafts.

This week we will begin our Memoir unit. We will discuss the elements of a narrative, prewrite and choose our life event to write about. We will also develop our settings and characters and finish the week developing the plot.

This week we will be preparing for the Explore Test. We will go over our practice test in class and discuss any questions you have. Wednesday we will take the test. Thursday we will prepare for preschoolers to visit, and Friday, we will spend class with the preschoolers.

This week we will finish our Children’s Literature Unit.  We will analyze The Polar Express and how the movie and book compare to each other. Tuesday we will play a game to review for our test. Wednesday we will take the test. Thursday we will practice for the Explore test which will be March 21st.

This week we will continue our Children’s Literature unit. We will read children’s stories and analyze them for literary elements. By the end of the week, we will review all of the literary elements with an activity, and then begin studying the plot sequence of The Polar Express
