Textbook Protocol

Dear AP Student and Parents,
Welcome back to the 2012-2013 school year! I am planning and anticipating a year filled with challenge, learning, and excitement. I have received several emails concerning the textbook we will use for the upcoming school year.

AP Government uses the textbook:

The Challenge of Democracy, 9th ed.
Kenneth Janda, Jeffrey Berry, and Jerry Goldman
Publisher: Houghton Mifflin Company 9 ed. (December 27th, 2006)
ISBN: 061881017

List Price (Amazon):
• New: $177.95
• Used: $1.81

A couple of additional ideas before you purchase a textbook
1. Try to ask a former AP Government student if you can have their textbook. Almost all of last year’s students took this route.
2. If you decide to buy the textbook from Amazon, please buy a used textbook. The only requirement is that the textbook is the ninth edition.

I hope this helps! If there are any questions please feel free to contact me via email: mharrington@dist228.org or by the telephone 1-815-499-9084 at anytime

Take care and have a good rest of the summer,
Mr. Harrington
