Welcome to Mr. Wolfe’s  Science and Technology site.  SciTech is modeled after STEM’S learning programs.  STEM’S integrates science, technology, engineering, and math into the students learning experience.

SciTech is divided into many different  modules.  Each module is a learning station for a particular type of science, technology, or engineering.  Students, working in groups of two, will choose a module to complete for 10-11 days.  During that time they will learn about the topic, investigate possible careers, and produce an end product using the skills learned during the module.  Students will be creating a portfolio of work as they complete each module.

As an example, in the module Game Design, students will learn about the design process, careers, and  computer programming skills required  to produce computer  games.

Students will then program a single player game, a two player game, and then either add new levels  to their games or create their very own computer game.  By the way, computer gaming is a multibillion dollar industry in today’s United States.

Other module topics are more heavily designed towards engineering.  There are modules on civil engineering, engineering design, robotic engineering, aerospace, and other forms of engineering.  In these modules students will use the engineering design process to create a product.  Other modules include topics in science or  technology skills needed in many careers of the future.

I hope your student gets a taste of the wide fields of learning available in  science, technology, engineering and math.  And I hope your student enjoys an active learning environment where they have a choice of study and the freedom of independent learning.
